To provide the “learn languages from photos” service, we collect the following types of information:

  • Uploaded images: When you use “Upload” or “Drag & Drop”, we receive your image files (JPG, PNG, WEBP, etc.).
  • Recognition results: Words, phonetics, meanings, and example sentences generated by AI analysis.

1.2 Account Information (Registered Users Only)

When you register or sign in (especially Pro/Elite users), we may collect your email address, username, or authorization info from third-party login providers (e.g., Google/Apple).

1.3 Transaction Information

If you purchase a paid plan (Pro/Elite), our third‑party payment processors (e.g., Stripe or PayPal) handle your payment information. PicLingo does not directly store your credit card or bank account details.

1.4 Usage & Technical Data

Including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, preferred language (for the “follow browser language” feature), and interaction analytics.

2. Image Processing & AI Training Statement (Important)

We understand privacy concerns about uploaded images, so we make the following commitments:

  • Purpose limitation: Your images are used only for real‑time AI recognition and parsing to generate words and learning content.
  • No training: We do not use your personal images to train, fine‑tune, or improve our general AI models. Your data is yours, not our algorithms.
  • Data retention:

Free users

Your images are deleted after processing, at the end of the session or shortly afterward. We do not retain upload history for free users.

Registered/Paid users

To provide cloud sync and history, your images and recognition results are encrypted and stored in our cloud servers until you delete them or close your account.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information to:

  • Provide core services: image recognition, vocabulary lists, pronunciations, and export features (Anki/PDF/Excel).
  • Account management: maintain your subscription status and sync learning records across devices.
  • Customer support: respond to feedback and support tickets.
  • Service optimization: analyze anonymized usage data to improve performance and user experience.

4. Information Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We only share data with third parties in limited cases:

  • Service providers: trusted third‑party services (cloud hosting, AI image recognition APIs, payment gateways). They are bound by confidentiality and may process data only as needed to deliver the service.
  • Legal requirements: if required by law or valid legal process, we may disclose your information.

We use industry‑standard safeguards to protect your information, including:
